Blood types are commonly categorized into four groups: type O, type A, type B, and type AB.
The ABO blood group system was discovered by the Austrian scientist, Karl Landsteiner.
He identified the O, A, and B blood types in 1900.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his work.
